Microaggressions are brief and commonplace verbal, behavioral, and environmental indignities, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages to individuals based on their marginalized group membership. These actions have lasting, negative psychological impact on the target person and group, especially when starting at a young age.
